MAI Sushi Tapas & Bar was co-founded by Khoa Duong and Chef Alfred Toita, two passionate culinary professionals who first met working together at a corporate sushi restaurant in Seattle. Their shared love for asian cuisine led them to combine their expertise and create a dining experience that blends tradition with innovation.

Chef Alfred, a culinary explorer at heart, draws inspiration from his travels, infusing his dishes with unique, non-traditional ingredients that elevate the classic flavors of Japan. MAI Sushi & Tapas is the result of years of honing his craft and commitment to sourcing the finest ingredients.

Khoa Duong, a Vietnamese-born General Manager and Owner, was introduced to the hospitality and food service industry at a young age. His experience in the industry inspired him to further develop his entrepreneurial skills, ultimately leading to the creation of MAI. Motivated by Alfred’s precision and craftsmanship, Khoa is committed to bringing the finest Japanese and Vietnamese tapas, exceptional service, and unparalleled hospitality to the vibrant community of Coral Gables.
